PDFPro – a Vancouver-based software company offering a modern alternative to legacy PDF editors – has commissioned a series of animated shorts designed to challenge the dominance of bloated, overpriced incumbents in the PDF space.
The artistic foundation of the campaign is a clean, flat vector style paired with simple, classic 2D animation.

Each short is built around a single visual gag with a clear punchline, optimised for fast consumption across online formats such as Meta and display banners.

The animation is deliberately minimal and lightweight, mirroring the product’s own positioning: fast, efficient, and free of unnecessary complexity.
The narrative device centres on a red-clad tumbler character – a metaphor for one of the market’s PDF tools – who struggles under the weight of its own excess.

Across three scenarios, we see the equilibrist bloated and bursting at the seams while trying to sign a PDF document, sluggish and worn out as a document refuses to load, and finally performing to an empty audience as money leaks from his costume.

The humour is visual, immediate, and accessible, allowing the message to land without ever naming competitors or relying on logos.
Together, the three shorts position PDFPro as a sharp contrast: a fast, lightweight, and fairly priced PDF editor that simply gets out of the way and lets users work.

The campaign reframes an everyday software frustration into a playful metaphor, reminding audiences that they don’t need to put on a painful performance just to edit a PDF – better alternatives already exist.
